Itinerary

Departure in the morning from the hotel in Cairo for a day of sightseeing:

Site of Memphis: The oldest political and religious capital of Egypt. Founded in 3200 BC by the legendary King Menes, unifier of Upper and Lower Egypt. Located on the east bank of the Nile, it was the capital of Egypt for over a thousand years and a major religious center. It was also the place of worship of the god Ptah.

Saqqara Site: A vast funerary complex including the tombs of dignitaries and the “step” pyramid of King Djoser (founder of the Third Dynasty, circa 2700 BC). This pyramid is considered the first attempt at pyramid construction and the first stone structure in the world.

Lunch in a traditional restaurant.

Dahshur Site: Site of the “Bent” and “Red” Pyramids, both built by King Snefru (founder of the Fourth Dynasty and father of the famous Pharaoh Khufu). The style of these two pyramids illustrates the development of pyramid architecture, reflecting the transitional phase between the Step Pyramid at Saqqara and the full-form pyramid on the Giza Plateau. You will also have the opportunity to enter the “Red” Pyramid to explore the architecture of this impressive monument from the inside.

Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
